The Radio France audio team was in charge of the live broadcast at the Olympia and the recording for the France Inter live broadcast. Radio France supplied the consoles, the microphones, the intercom, the stage broadcast and the network.

The C.R.E.A (Centre de Ressources et d'Etudes Audiovisuelles) department at the University of Rennes is responsible for the technical management of the University's studios, amphitheaters and events. Most facilities are fully equipped, but CREA also has a fleet of mobile equipment, enabling it to optimize investments and maintain a certain flexibility in the face of the diversity of services required. In addition, the C.R.E.A department is responsible for audio and video recording of concerts, conferences or events taking place at the Opéra, "Le Liberté" (Concert hall) or "Le Couvent des Jacobins" (Congress center), etc...

A fiber-optic network dedicated to audiovisual flows

The C.R.E.A. team, led by Christian ALLIO, has designed a standard rack to combine IP, video and communication flows between the University and other buildings in the city of Rennes, via a double fiber optic link. This enables them to capture any event in the city from their studios located within the university grounds. Working conditions are optimal, and days are reasonable. No more small dressing rooms for recording, no more 16-hour days ;-).

A wonderful story

"Décrocher la lune" was born out of the desire of the City of La Louvière and the Centre culturel régional du Centre to create a unique event to mark the arrival of the year 2000. They invited Franco Dragone, who had recently settled in La Louvière after a distinguished career with Cirque du Soleil, to take on the artistic direction of the project. 

The founding idea was to enable the people of La Louvière to showcase the know-how of a town that is often the victim of negative prejudice, and to deliver a message of resistance and hope. This hope will be embodied by Sancho Gilles, a character represented by a giant puppet. He climbs the church tower and literally picks up the moon.

A city-wide network!

Thanks to fiber optics and networks, the MINGZHIHUI team were able to deploy a Dante-based architecture and convert audio channels to deliver streams in AES/EBU format to all four corners of the city of Wushan, Fuzhou. 

H1's internal Auvitan matrix allows the construction of audio bridges in DANTE<>AES or other formats, thanks to the various Auvitran cards available.

Technical setup

The team at CDN Olympia in Tours, headed by Laurent Choquet, decided to think about an AV network in 2020. The 700-seat theater was renewing its sound console, PA system, and wanted to install an audiovisual network capable of converging all audio, lighting and video requirements. It was therefore necessary to understand the internal workings, the needs of each team and the strategic access points.

AV network access at any point!

The decision is taken collegially around the table by the audio, lighting and video teams. A patch bay located in the control room will allow any signal (in RJ45 or fiber optic format) to be routed from point A to point B. In addition, a 10 Gigabit network link via 2* GHOST X will provide access to Dante P/S, Art Net and NDI protocols. 1* GHOST X will follow the mobile control room (middle of tier, top of tier or high control room) and 1* GHOST will be on stage.

So

Network architecture:

• 2*GHOST X ensure the 10G Control room location <> Stage link
• 1*GHOST PI into the dimmer light room
• 1*H1 into the amplifiers rack as a DANTE/ AVB-MILAN
